I was finished with my tour in Germany and was on my way to to my next duty station in Texas. We spent the day at the fair. I have about a dozen photos. Every time that I drive though Knoxville and see the gold tower, I remember the 1982 World’s Fair.

Was there with a High School senior class trip. I don’t remember a whole lot. I remember of seeing Elton John perform (not sure, it might have been more like a rehearsal). And I remember being fascinated by a dome home. Other than that, I don’t remember a whole lot. Don’t think I have an pictures.

I remember these Caribbean guys all dressed in orange playing Rocky Top on calypso drums. It was the Saturday when Tennessee defeated Alabama for the first time in a while. The Japanese pavilion was awesome and the giant Ferris wheel was higher than Neyland.

Great event. Went and enjoyed nearly everything. No pictures but rate the Peru and Mexico pavilions at the top. The Scruffy Little City really put on a great time.
