WOODMERE MALL EXXON ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED WITH HELP FROM GIRLFRIEND

Crossville Police reports that a 25 year old male wearing a red hoodie, black gloves and a camouflaged mask walked into the Woodmere Exxon and demanded money. According to the police report, when the suspect entered the store the clerk was away from the counter.  Once he demanded money to be put in a bag, the clerk began walking toward the door and out into the parking lot as the would-be robber followed. Once outside the suspect reportedly looked puzzled, saying “Seriously?” and commenced to walking away down Chestnut Street behind the mall.   After leaving the store, a witness saw the suspect toss the hoodie and other items upon the roof-top at the rear of the Mall. Crossville Police caught the suspect, Coty Michael Haynes of Cookeville, at the Wellness Center. Haynes told officers he had just been walking his girlfriend to work at Burger King.  Police then took Haynes to Burger King to talk to the girlfriend who identified the clothing police recovered as belonging to Haynes.  Haynes was taken in and booked on a robbery charge.
