WHY THE SEARCH BY CROSSVILLE RESCUE TEAMS THIS MORNING

A press release this morning from CCEMA:

Crossville Police Dept., Crossville Fire/Rescue, Cumberland Co. EMA, and Cumberland Co. Rescue Squad are working to search lakes, ponds, and other bodies of water in and around the City of Crossville due to a call that was received by Cumberland Co. 911 this morning. At this time there is no known emergency, these operations are being done out of an abundance of caution. –

An anonymous call came in this morning from someone stating there was a body floating in water outside their window in Crossville.

The caller then hung up with no more information about their location, name or any other info.  The caller could not be reached by phone after the tip was called in.  All emergency agencies began searching local bodies of water in and around Crossville but found no one in distress or otherwise harmed.

The investigation is on going as to who the caller was and if, indeed, it was a fake report.  Crossville and Cumberland County emergency teams take all calls seriously and work to find out if there is anyone in danger.
