WHAT IS GOING ON WITH DOMINO’S “EMERGENCY PIZZA” PROMOTION

It’s dinner time and it crosses your mind that the last time you ordered from Domino’s Pizza you were informed that on your next order you are entitled to an “emergency pizza” because Domino’s is offering a free “emergency pizza”. Except are they really. This writer discovered through the attempt to collect her own “emergency pizza” this was not true in her case.  The last time I placed an order with Domino’s there was a message that I was entitled to my “emergency pizza” but when I tried to order online, the system was down and upon calling the local store they advised me that the only way to collect it is online.  I placed my order over the phone figuring there was a problem with the system that would be fixed only to find that next time when I ordered online again a week later the offer for my “emergency pizza” was gone but the online system was now functioning fine.

I inquired when my order arrived as to how to collect my  “emergency pizza” and was informed that the issue had to be taken up with the corporate office. I was also informed that I was not the only one that was wondering where my “emergency pizza” was but that sometimes as many as six people a day have problems with obtaining their “emergency pizza” and do not receive it.

I decided to place a call to the corporate office and find out what the issue is that is keeping people from receiving their “emergency pizza” and was met with a whole new set of challenges. The telephone number that I was provided does not go to any live individual.  My call first provided me the option to receive a text back from them to enter my issue and then texting them back which was obtained through pressing option one; or directly contacting someone if and only if I knew their name and then enter the first three letters of their name by pressing option two.  I pressed option one and received the text back from them and tried to enter my issue but was not given confirmation it went through. I then called back and pressed option two (the option to contact someone by name) and I took a gamble and first entered “DAV” because David is a common name and was given three people to choose from but none of them a manager.  I then hung up called back and pressed option two again and entered the first three letters of my own name “LIS” and was sent to the payroll department to a girl named Lisa.  I left a message on her extension identifying myself from Crossville News First and the reason I was calling and requested that she forward my message to the proper individual. There are a few other hurdles I experienced in this effort to reach the corporate office but I believe I have made my point.  It’s not easy!!!

While I waited for a call back from the corporate office I decided to do some research in the community online and found that the Domino’s Reddit Community is talking about this very issue.  From failing coupon codes to other problems listed the end result was the same.  There are many people all over the U.S. that cannot collect their “emergency pizza” or have to jump through hoops and take as long as thirty minutes to get it to work. People are keeping their end of the offer and placing orders in an attempt to collect their “emergency pizza” so why is Domino’s not fulfilling their promise to every consumer that is entitled to their “emergency pizza” and why are they providing customers with a corporate telephone number that goes to no live person, offers no manager extension and only offers the ability to receive a text to text them with what the issue is?

I finally received a call back from the local Domino’s owner Derek Solomon, despite the fact that I had requested someone from the corporate office return my call. He told me that Lisa from payroll in the corporate office had forwarded my message and my text had also gone through. He spoke to me briefly and apologized for the delay in getting back to me and stated he had to talk to lawyers and PR (I wondered why PR did not make the return call to me) and he advised me that I was misinformed by the employee who told me that sometimes roughly six people a day call with trouble and that everything is fine with the online system and that there is no code option but rather you “break glass” to redeem the offer when you see it when you are placing an order online. I advised him my offer had just been there as a notification with no breaking glass involved but the app would not function for me. I also provided the Reddit community information to him and told him I had a few more questions and asked that we speak again after he had a chance to review the Reddit post. I was not granted a second phone interview but I did receive a text back from him as follows:

“Hey Lisa,

I do apologize but I’m going to decline doing a phone interview. We have spoke to all team members in our store and we are doing everything correctly to honor our emergency pizza promotion to our customers. The Reddit link you sent is not about our local store.

Myself or any of my managers are always more than happy to help you in any way if you have any issues in the future. We always strive to meet our customers demands one order at a time!

It was nice speaking with you and wish you nothing but the best!”

I had further questions at this point and reached out by text hoping to get the answers that way.

This is what the owner had to say:

“Again I’m sorry but we are doing everything at our store to honor the promotion. It’s a great promotion that will end up in over $1 million worth of free pizza given out.

And for future reference there’s not a code that you type in to redeem your free pizza, you click on the pizza to break the glass that it’s in. However there are rules to qualify for the emergency pizza in the picture attached. The image of the rules was not clear enough to insert into this story however you can CLICK HERE FOR RULES .

I do love this community, and I know this promotion has fed many families in need and I trust God will continue to use it to help those in need.”

But further research unearthed a whole new issue.  Dominos has an offer to STUDENT LOAN RECEIPIENTS that specifically did require the entry of a code to redeem the pizza but now the story that the link goes to has changed drastically since November 27th when I first began gathering information for this story. I sent the link I have posted here to Mr. Solomon and pointed out there was a code required for the Student Loan Pizza at that time and I asked if they were doing this part of the promotion and received no answer.

I pushed on through my quest for answers regarding the student loan “Emergency Pizza” on the internet and I created a Reddit post and discovered a claim that a driver in another state leaked multiple codes and there was  a massive issue with that aspect of the offer and that Domino’s has shut this part down now. CLICK HERE FOR REDDIT POST CLAIMING THIS .

I am now left with more questions than answers.   How much pizza is really being given away?  The first promotion was issued and promised one million dollars of pizza was being given away through breaking glass and a few weeks later the student loan promotion was issued also promising a million dollars in pizza to be given away through codes. Is it one million dollars or two million dollars originally supposed to be given away and what happened with the student loan pizza codes? Why was I told a code could not be used and not answered when I asked specifically about the Student Loan Pizza and provided a link to the owner regarding same?  If the promotion for the Student Loan Pizza has been shut down due to leaked codes where is the article from Domino’s explaining this and what does this do to the amount of money being given away? Who is keeping track of the amount of money that is being given away? Both promotions are due to end February 11th.

It is my hope that Domino’s Corporate office will reach out to me with a statement and answer these questions and clear them up for me as at this point I cannot get anyone from the corporate office to respond to me.  The local store has been helpful and Derek a pleasure to speak with and has answered to the best of his ability but these questions are for the corporate level.

I am asking you, our readers, whether you have had no trouble at all receiving your “emergency pizza” or you have had trouble to please comment below your experience in claiming your “Emergency Pizza” and if you have tried to claim a Student Loan “Emergency Pizza” or email your response to [email protected].

This is a developing story and more information will be provided as it is received.
