VEC OFFERS RELIEF ON ELECTRIC BILLS FOR HARDSHIP CASES

We contacted VEC to ask about relief for those customers who have lost their job or had a reduction in hours.  We were told that VEC always has had a policy in place to help those with hardships.  Below is the official statement from VEC concerning how to obtain relief.

Many of you have been asking about VEC’s policy as related to cutoff suspensions and late fee waivers, in response to the coronavirus pandemic. As an electric cooperative, VEC adheres to the seven cooperative principles. Chief among those principles is the cooperative’s concern for the community we serve. Accordingly, VEC shows flexibility to members facing financial hardships, not only in response to the current situation but as a standard cooperative practice. Anyone experiencing a hardship resulting from a loss of employment or a reduction in work hours should contact their local service center to discuss their individual situation. Our customer service representatives will offer solutions on a case by case basis, according to need.
