UPDATE: FRIDAY NIGHTS HIGH SPEED CHASE SUSPECT NAMED INVOLVING 18 LAW CRUISERS

According to an incident report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, we now have identification of the man who engaged law enforcement on a high-speed chase last Friday evening through Cumberland County and into Bledsoe County. Cumberland County authorities say 26-year-old Robert Lee Howard of Spencer was behind the wheel of the green Mazda truck that led as many as eighteen county and state law-enforcement vehicles in pursuit through Lake Tansi and down U.S. Highway 127 South March 15, ending when Howard crashed and rolled multiple times just south of the intersection with Highway 30 in Bledsoe County.

Howard and a 26-year-old female passenger were hospitalized after the crash.
Charges pending against Howard include evading arrest, reckless endangerment and driving on a revoked or suspended license.
Authorities determined both Howard and his passenger also have outstanding warrants in Cumberland County.
