UPDATE: DEPUTY SCOTT ILES STRUCK BY VEHICLE AT NORTH ELEMENTARY, MORE DETAILS

FROM 1057 News: Update on Deputy Scot Iles Condition:

Deputy Iles is the North Cumberland Elementary School Resource Officer who was struck by a vehicle approximately 3:10 this afternoon while directing traffic outside the school along U.S. Highway 127.

Deputy Iles was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment of his injuries. According to Sheriff Cox, Iles was conscious and talking to the sheriff inside the ambulance on scene before they put him in the chopper.

Sheriff Cox added Deputy Iles suffered a head injury but did not elaborate on any other possible injuries.

A joint press release issued by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Cumberland County Schools revealed Iles was struck from behind by a southbound vehicle on U.S.. Highway 127 North while directing school traffic. Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
