TROUBLE WITH FENTRESS COUNTY INMATES VOTING IN THE JAIL

Fentress County Sheriff Hunter Fowler said county officials are reviewing procedures after concerns surfaced involving inmate absentee ballots at the Fentress County Jail.

In a statement, Fowler said he became aware of the situation and emphasized that he takes the integrity of the election process “very seriously.”

According to Fowler, the Fentress County Election Commission identified the issue and consulted with the Tennessee Division of Elections before taking corrective action.

Fowler said officials worked to ensure inmates could legally cast absentee ballots in compliance with Tennessee election requirements.

He did not specify what led to the issue or how many ballots may have been affected.
