TIME FRAME FOR POWER TO BE RESTORED, WARMING CENTER OPEN

In Cumberland county about 10,000 VEC customers lost power around 3am. That number has dropped to 7700 by 7am. Cumberland County EMA posted the following press release at 6am:

1/21/2024 6:00 a.m.

Power outage update: VEC is reporting that they had a transmission line fault this morning and crews are working to get power restored as quickly as possible. This is affected customers in the Lantana and Crab Orchard areas.

The repair is expected to take less than 2 more hours based on the current situation.

We appreciate the linemen that are out in the bitter cold this morning trying to get service restored.

The Cumberland Fellowship Store on West Ave. is open for a warming shelter for anyone in immediate need of heat while power is restored.

Based on this release the power should be restored by 8am this morning.
