THE LINE IS BACK – HUNDREDS LINE UP FOR TESTING AFTER SPIKE IN COVID-19

As Cumberland County fast approaches the 500 mark in active COVID-19 cases, the familiar long line of cars has shown back up at the Cumberland County Health Department.  Hundreds are being tested for the virus. Cumberland County had reached an all-time low of only one active cast on July 5th.  There has been no reason given for the sudden surge in cases.  CMC is reporting that all ICU beds are full as are most of the state’s hospitals. The ER is again backed up with a long wait-time for patients – both COVID and non-COVID related.  There is no talk of another mask mandate in the Cumberland County School system thus far – not that it would make much difference since the Governor has implemented an Executive Order that parents may opt-out of any school mask mandates.  There has been no discussion of schools implementing virtual learning again either.  The only choice for parents who do not want to send their kids to school with the possibility of contracting COVID would be homeschooling.
