TENNESSEE LAW OFFICERS ASKED TO SHROUD BADGES THIS WEEK

The Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police is asking all Tennessee law enforcement officers to shroud their badges for one week following the recent shooting in Baton Rouge which left three officers dead. “We send our sincere condolences to the Departments and to the families and friends of those affected by these senseless acts.”

“TACP is deeply saddened and appalled by the tragic deaths that occurred in Baton Rouge today. The police chiefs across the state are committed to working together with all of law enforcement and in their communities to provide safe environments for all citizens statewide” they said in a release Sunday evening.

TACP continued “Serving and protecting the citizens of Tennessee is the primary mission of our law enforcement agencies, and we will continue to stand ready to work with our citizens and community leaders to address concerns facing our communities.  We ask our citizens to report any suspicious activity to their local law enforcement agency and for their patience as we work together to protect the safety of our law enforcement officers in the course of their daily duties.”

“This is a trying and difficult time for law enforcement across our country. The TACP can assure you that the Tennessee Law Enforcement community will continue to place themselves at risk to keep their communities safe and do all we can to protect our officers.”

“Our law enforcement profession and Tennesseans are deeply affected by these horrific events.  We encourage our police chiefs to continue to strive for open dialogue, provide avenues of communication, and build trust within the communities they serve. The members of the TACP are committed to public service and will continue to work hard to keep our communities and officers safe.”
