SUSPICIOUS SALES REP TRIES TO PASS OFF TOXIC PRODUCT TO LOCAL VAPE SHOP

Police, Fire and Rescue along with an Ambulance were dispatched to Vapors Choice vape shop on Elmore Road today for a suspicious delivery.  According to the manager, a man claiming to be a sales representative for a vapable Delta 8 cartridge came into the store to offer a sample of the product.  The manager asked for the lab tests for the cartridge from the suspect who said he did not have any.  The suspect urged the manager to try out the product by inhaling through a vape device.  The manager explained that their business only accepted products from reputable suppliers who could provide PNTA lab tests to prove safety.

The suspect then left the business.  As the manager and another employee held the product in their hands they felt an oily substance on the outside and soon began to feel ill.  The police and ambulance service were called immediately.  Upon arrival, the two workers were getting more and more nauseated.  The substance on the product was determined to possibly be Fentanyl – 100 times more potent than morphine and easily absorbed through the skin.

The suspicious product was turned over to the police to send to TBI for further testing.  The suspect gave no name and said he was out of business cards before he left the store.  Given the potency of Fentanyl, if indeed that is the substance in the product, it could have been fatal to the employees had they inhaled it.  The manager and one employee were checked out by EMT’s and their vitals seemed to be returning to normal.  Vapors Choice owner told CNF that everyone should be very cautious when obtaining vape products from anyone other than licensed retailers who demand lab test results to insure safety.  Since the law has raised vaping to 21 year old and older, there are a lot of ‘underground’ sales of highly toxic product which could prove to be fatal.
