SPLINTERED BOARD OF EDUCATION BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD TONIGHT FOR DOS SEARCH

There is much dissension among Cumberland County Board of Education members over the search for a new Director of Schools.  The Board met last Saturday with a goal of interviewing local applicants for the job then voting on the applicants.  However, things fell apart when the voting started.  Turns out the Board couldn’t really decide on how to choose the new DOS, couldn’t get a majority for a local applicant, and couldn’t agree on proceeding with interviewing out-of-town applicants.  Ultimately, the only thing the Board did agree on was to stop the meeting and reconvene tonight.  The agenda for tonight’s meeting  includes determining if out-of-county applicants will be interviewed; the method of voting to be used for selection of a local candidate; and maybe vote on local applicants again.
