SOUZA’S CHARGES AGAINST KERLEY DISMISSED, NEXT MISSION-FIRE CITY MANAGER

Crossville News First has not been reporting on the back and forth bickering between two City Council members lately simply because it’s become a tired subject that few care about, most have become disgusted reading about it and it’s soon to be over after the November elections.  However, since we did a story originally on the assault charges leveled by Pete Souza against Jesse Kerley we felt compelled to report on the outcome.

After being postponed from earlier court dates, City Council members Pete Souza and Jesse Kerley did appear before the judge yesterday.  Kerley was answering charges of allegedly assaulting Souza back in June after a City Council meeting.  After reviewing a surveillance video, Judge Warner ruled there simply wasn’t enough evidence to prove the assault happened as Souza claimed.  The case was dismissed.  Souza’s next mission is hoping to fire interim-City Manager Steve Hill for what Souza has claimed  many ethics violations by Hill.  Souza has placed an item on next weeks City Councils meeting titled “Discussion and action on removal and replacement of interim City Manager”  There are possibly at least two other council members who may share Souza’s sentiments toward Hill.  If so, the Council could easily vote to remove Hill as City Manager and then must name another interim City Manager.
