The Tennessee Highway Patrol has announced that it will be participating in the third annual “Interstate 40 Challenge: The Drive to Zero Fatalities.” This Thanksgiving holiday traffic safety initiative will be seen in the increase of patrols along I40 during the Thanksgiving period of November 25-29. Troopers will be assigned to every 20 miles of I40 between the hours of 11 am to 11 pm on Wednesday November 25th and 9 am to 9 pm on Sunday November 29th. In addition, there will be increased presence on all interstates across Tennessee. In Cumberland County, there will be three checkpoints throughout the holiday period. On Friday November 27th there will be a Driver’s License Checkpoint on Hwy 68 at Alloway, and a Sobriety Checkpoint on Hwy 127 at mile marker 26. There will be another Sobriety Checkpoint on US Hwy 70 at Browntown Road on Saturday November 28th.
