SMOKE ALARM BLITZ SATURDAY IN CROSSVILLE

The Crossville and Cumberland County Fire Departments and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are partnering together in an effort to save lives and increase public awareness through fire prevention and education with a “smoke alarm blitz” scheduled this weekend.

Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m., personnel from the departments will be out in full force checking and installing smoke alarms.

Predesignated areas have been determined through a community risk reduction study. These agencies will work to reduce the loss of life by fire in those designated areas by ensuring properly functioning smoke alarms are in place. They will also assist in a home fire safety survey to educate citizens on proper home fire safety.

If needed, the fire departments will be installing free ten-year smoke alarms provided by the state Fire Marshal’s Office.

The following areas will be included in the smoke alarm canvas: Stanley St., Fourth St., Myrtle Ave., Prentice St., Storie Ave., Camelia Dr. and Halstead Dr. areas and the Camelot subdivision.

Persons outside the designated area who are in need of smoke alarms may contact the Crossville Fire Department at 484-7571 or the Cumberland County Fire Department at 484-8448 for more information.
