SHOOTING NEAR AUSTIN PEAY CAMPUS IN CLARKSVILLE-FIVE SHOT

Five people were injured in a shooting near Austin Peay State University in Clarksville Monday night.

It happened mere blocks from campus on Carpenter Street just before 9 p.m.

At least four of the victims sustained serious injuries while police do not have information on the fifth.

Two of the victims were flown via LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, and two others were transported by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville.

None of the 5 victims has been identified, and an update on their condition was not immediately known.

Police said a suspect has not been located.

The investigation is ongoing and more information is expected as it continues.

Austin Peay sent out an alert to students because it was near campus and EMS was using sports fields on campus as a landing area for the helicopters.
