SHERIFF STATEMENT ON ‘SUSPICIOUS WHITE VAN’ CONCERN IN COMMUNITY

The following is a press release from Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox regarding reports of a suspicious white van in the area.

There have been several reports of very suspicious activity that involve a white van. Reports have varied from a white van with no windows to a white van with windows. The occupants have been reported to be hispanic males in one incident and caucasian male with tattoos in other incidents. We are aware of the concerns of the community involving this suspicious activity and have advised our officers across the county to be on the look out for a white van and it’s occupants. However at this time there has been NO criminal activity involving the van reported. It is important to always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity immediately to the Sheriff’s Department. Always walk with a partner and never stop and talk to strangers. If approached by anyone asking directions keep walking and get a good description of the driver and vehicle including a tag number if you can safely do so.
