SHERIFF: ARMED FUGITIVES MAY HAVE LEFT COUNTY, SEARCH SCALED BACK

Crossville News First talked with Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox who said the search for three armed robbery suspects has been reduced to patrolling.  Two men and a woman reportedly attempted an armed robbery at a residence on Darrell Avenue in Crossville Monday afternoon.  The three fled in a Jeep Cherokee which was found abandoned in the area of Rock Quarry road and Milo Lemert bypass between 127 South and 70 East.  Sheriff Deputies, Crossville Police Officers and THP Troopers searched the area throughout the afternoon.  There was some evidence that the suspects may have fled to another county.  Based on even more information, Sheriff Cox said he doesn’t feel the danger is high for the local community to fear these particular subjects are going to attempt home invasions in Cumberland or other counties.  Of course law enforcement officers are going to continue their search but in a scaled down manner.  No injuries were reported in the attempted armed robbery.
