SCAM ALERT FROM CUMBERLAND CO SHERIFF DEPT.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT:

We would like to share a quick warning with you all about a possible scam that’s been going around. If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be Captain Jeff Slayton from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and they’re asking for personal information or money, please be aware that it is a scam.

This individual has been calling from a fake Google number (931-463-8691) and posing as Captain Slayton. If you receive a call like this, please hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office at (931) 484-6176 to report it.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office does have a Captain Jeff Slayton but he or any other officer will not call you requesting funds. If you receive a call about information call the individual back at the main Sheriff’s Office number to ensure you are speaking to a legitimate officer.
