Deputies in Roane County are investigating a shooting.

It happened Saturday afternoon on Blair Road in Harriman.

Deputies tells us a former Lenoir City and TVA police officer, Alex Gambrell got into an argument with his wife, Jenny Gambrell, and shot her several times.

The sheriff says Alex then holed himself up inside his home for a few hours until giving himself up to police after negotiations.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.

The wife was taken to the hospital, she is alive and out of surgery.
