ROANE COUNTY MAN HEAD GRAZED BY BULLET AFTER FIGHT

A resident of the Ten Mile area of Roane County sustained a gunshot wound to the side of his head during an incident Tuesday night, authorities said.

According to the Roane County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel McElhaney, 49, of McElhaney Road was taken by ambulance to University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville after the shooting, which was reported shortly after 9 p.m.

“There are too many people telling too many different stories,” Chief Deputy Tim Phillips said of the shooting.

He said McElhaney was shot after “some kind of argument.” Phillips said McElhaney sustained a graze wound to his temple.

A .22-caliber rifle was recovered. While the argument reportedly occurred inside a house, McElhaney was apparently shot while walking along the road, Phillips said.
