Roane County man dies of hypothermia, state’s 11th weather related death

hypothermiaA State of Emergency continues in the state of Tennessee as the number of confirmed weather fatalities in the state has now risen to 11. The newest hypothermia-related death was reported in Roane County.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency declared the state of emergency at 9 p.m. Monday.

Sub-zero temperatures continue throughout the state Thursday. Another round of wintry precipitation is predicted Friday into Saturday.

Eleven confirmed weather related fatalities have been reported in the state. One death each was reported in Knox and Overton counties from motor vehicle accidents. Two motor vehicle accident fatalities were reported in Williamson County.

A 44-year-old man died of hypothermia in Roane County. The Roane County sheriff says he was found Wednesday in his home in the Eagle Furnace area. The power had been out for a few days. The man has some previous medical issues as well.

Hamilton, Shelby and Sequatchie counties each reported one hypothermia related death. Two hypothermia related deaths were reported in Henry County.

A death was also reported in Hickman County where a dialysis patient was unable to get treatment. (WATE-TV)
