The Rhea County Grand Jury has indicted a former middle school teacher on two counts of statutory rape. 39-year-old Billy Hoffman’s charges also include two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure. Hoffman resigned his teaching position at Rhea County Middle School before the end of the school year. He has been under investigation for having inappropriate contact with one of his students. He turned himself into authorities Tuesday morning and then made bond.
