REPORT: 27-YEAR-OLD CCHS SCHOOL EMPLOYEE DIES FROM FLU

Crossville News First has learned of the tragic death of a 27-year-old Cumberland County High School employee after getting the flu.  The young female worked as a custodian at CCHS.  Reportedly the worker had been feeling ill for the past couple of weeks and was taking some days off to get some bed rest.  The young lady died Friday January 26th at home.  She leaves behind a husband and two children.  We are withholding the identity of the woman out of respect for privacy for the family.  The flu has been taking its toll on many this year as most of you know.  Many absences have been reported throughout the Cumberland Co school system.  Meigs County Schools were closed today due to the flu outbreak.  Lenoir City and Loudon County Schools are closed through Monday. A check with sources in Cumberland County indicate as many as 12 people, and maybe more,  have died from flu complications in the last couple of months.  Physicians are encouraging everyone to take strong precautions against contracting the potentially deadly flu virus including washing hand frequently, being aware of your surroundings and who might be carrying the virus, covering your mouth when sneezing or coughing and making sure everyone around does the same, staying home when you’re sick, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouths.  Most doctors are urging patients who are showing signs of getting the flu to get plenty of bed rest saying -rest is the best.
