Tens of thousands of pounds of frozen chicken nuggets have been recalled by a well-known poultry producer.

Georgia-based Perdue Foods has recalled more than 68,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with wood, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a news release issued Thursday night.

The nuggets were sold nationwide, but the USDA hoped to later provide a list of retailers that sold the nuggets.

Three customers alerted Perdue and another alerted the U.S. Food and Inspection Safety Service after finding wood in the nuggets. There are no confirmed reports of illness from the contamination.

The nuggets were produced Oct. 25 and sold in 22-ounce bags labeled “Perdue SimplySmart Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets Gluten Free” with a best-buy date of Oct. 25, 2019, and the UPC bar code 72745-80656. The product subject to recall bears establishment number “P-33944” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
