TDOT has been working with an engineering firm that is recommending the addition of ‘truck climbing’ lanes on I-40 East bound coming up Monterey mountain.  The lanes would cover 10 miles up the mountain from marker 290 to 300 at Monterey.  Also in the Monterey mountain area, it is proposed to add a runaway truck ramp in the westbound direction.  TDOT says the results of the study “will provide a prioritized listing of potential multimodal projects that can be considered by TDOT or by local planning organizations.”  The downside is this is just a study for potential future work years down the road.
