Most of us agree, when the power goes off during a winter storm, or any other time for that matter, there is a deep feeling of uncertainty and a little fear grows inside us. History of storms on the Plateau tell us when the power goes off – it may be quite a while before it comes back on.  While we wait – there are dozens of VEC crews out in the bitter cold trying to get to the problem causing outages.  And getting to the problem can be a major problem in itself.  Here is a collection of images from the VEC Page showing the treacherous locations of places squirrels would have a hard time getting to – but VEC workers must get there to reconnect the downed lines. We should show a great appreciation of these workers for hard work they do just to get our lights (and heat) back on.
