PETITION AGAINST BANNING THE ‘DUKES’ AND WALMARTS REBEL FLAG BAN GAINING MOMENTUM

dukesAs most everyone knows by now, TV Land has pulled reruns of “The Dukes of Hazzard,” because of the recent controversy over the Confederate flag,

A logo of the flag is on the roof of the General Lee Dodge Charger  that is featured prominently in the series.

Warner Bros., which owns “The Dukes of Hazzard,” last week halted production on toy replicas of the car dubbed the General Lee. That followed moves by other retailers such as Walmart and eBay to stop selling items bearing the flag after the deadly church shooting in Charleston, SC, in June.

“The Dukes of Hazzard” follows the adventures of cousins Bo Duke (John Schneider) and Luke Duke (Tom Wopat) who raced around town in their trusty stock car. In a recent interview, Schneider defended the series’ use of the flag.

Change.org petition telling Viacom, the owner of TV Land, and Warner Bros. to “Stop Banning Dukes of Hazzard” had collected nearly 150,000 signatures.  Viacom nor any of the others named in the petition have responded. To see the petition and read more CLICK HERE
