PARENT ARRESTED TRYING TO PICK UP CHILD FROM SCHOOL SUES CUMBERLAND CO FOR $1MILLION PLUS

ScreenHunter_12 Sep. 26 08.56You may recall the video posted on Youtube of Jim Howe, a Cumberland County parent of a South Cumberland Elementary School student, trying to pick up his child on foot instead of driving a car which violated school policy.  The incident last fall ended with Howe being arrested at the school for disorderly conduct by school SRO officer Deputy Avery Aytes.  Now, Howe has filed a federal lawsuit against the County, Sheriff’s Department, Board of Education, Principal Darrell Threet, Deputy Aytes, South Cumberland Elementary School and Director of Schools Donald Andrews.  Howe is suing for damages and injunctive relief  (to allow him to pick up his child whenever and however he wishes).  Reportedly, Howe’s lawsuit also claims Deputy Aytes was not qualified to be an SRO officer.
