NO ‘LOCAL APPLICANT’ HIRED TODAY BY BOE FOR NEW DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS

The Cumberland County Board of Education failed to gather enough votes for any one of the six applicants for the DOS position in a special called meeting this afternoon. The Board met and interviewed the applicants throughout the day. When they convened the special called meeting afterwards, none of the applicants received the five votes needed to win the majority approval of the Board. The tally from today’s vote was as follows.  Michelle England – 3, Dan Schlafer – 1, Janet Graham -1, Darrell Threet -1, and three members abstained. The Board decided to have another special called meeting Tuesday to discuss a new method for voting on local applicants and possibly an interviewing process for out-of-town applicants.
