NEW SHOPLIFTING TRICK AT WALMART GETS MAN HAULED TO JAIL
Shoplifters are getting a bit more sophisticated these days. 60-year-old Ray Swanger of Dunlap went in the Crossville Wal-Mart and picked up a Fitbit. He then covered up the bar code on the item with a fake bar code which scanned in at $4.95 at the self-serve check out counter. Trouble is, the Fitbit was actually priced at $99.95. Almost got away with it. Store security nabbed him at the exit doors. Swanger was apparently proud of his ingenuity though – he told police that he had pulled the same bar code switch at several other Wal-Marts in the area.
