Some East Tennessee hospitals and doctor’s offices are now asking patients to fill out a new form when they register that’s meant to recognize the risk of ebola.

Patients at Covenant Health facilities are asked to fill out a form that asks them if they have a fever above 100.4 or if they’ve traveled outside the U.S. Those are two of the key risk factors for the deadly virus.

“We feel very prepared that if or when we were ever to have any patient that were high risk or did have potential exposure that we have the systems in place that that will allow us to detect those patients and protect not only the patients but our staff and respond appropriately,” said Dr. Mark Brown, Covenant’s Chief Medical Officer.

The new patient forms are being used throughout the south east region for all Covenant Health locations.  Cumberland Medical Center is a Covenant facility.
