The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for 2 to 4 inches of snow... with some light ice
accumulation... which is in effect from 6 PM Wednesday to noon CST
Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
* Timing... from 6 PM CST Wednesday through noon CST Thursday.
* Accumulations... 2 to 4 inches are possible with the highest
amounts closer to the Kentucky state line and Interstate
65... and lowest around Interstate 40. Freezing rain accumulations
are expected to be around a tenth of an inch.
* Main impact... precipitation will mainly be rain in the morning
and early afternoon... then mix with freezing rain and sleet
during the mid to late afternoon. Snow should develop during the
late afternoon for areas closer to Interstate 65 and in the
evening for the Cumberland Plateau. This mixed precipitation
will create major travel impacts from Wednesday afternoon
through Friday afternoon.
* Other impacts... temperatures are likely to stay below freezing
from Wednesday night through mid day Friday. This will likely
keep many roadways slick and hazardous for an extended period
of time.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
