MYSTERIOUS DOOR ‘FLYERS’ AUTHOR REVEALED DURING RESTRAINING ORDER CASE

A story that CNF first reported back in March on mysterious ‘flyers’ appearing on downtown businesses doors may have been solved with more twists.  Below is the story we published concerning anonymous flyers being plastered on Crossville businesses doors overnight March 11th seeking anyone with information about corrupt elected officials to contact someone named “Sam” with photos and documentation proving wrong doing by the officials.  The flyers upset some business owners and an investigation ensued to find the person who posted them.  Now, 105.7 News is reporting on a story that appeared in the Chronicle  indicating 54-year-old James R. Blankenship of Mockingbird Dr was the author of the  ‘flyers’ as a result of a police investigation.   Blankenship was cited for 30 counts of ‘circulation of unsigned material’. He appeared before City Judge Ivy Gardner who found him guilty and fined him $500.00 for each of the 30 counts.  Apparently that didn’t sit well with Blankenship and he allegedly made threatening comments to Judge Gardner such as “you’ll get yours” and “watch your back”  As a result of those comments and others, Judge Gardner asked for and got a restraining order against Blankenship.  Blankenship is appealing the City Citations in General Sessions Court. According to the story, City Attorney William T. Ridley issued an opinion on the anonymous flyers stating they violate at least two city ordinances under Title 11 Municipal offenses. 11-703 Circulation of unsigned material and 11-705 Posting of Notices and the Like.

ORIGINAL STORY – MARCH 11TH 2016

Crossville business owners were greeted with a paper taped to their door this morning offering a $500.00 reward for photos of corrupt local elected officials caught in the act of doing wrong.  The plain white paper with some very small print and a couple grammatical errors simply read:IMG_20160311_121834738_HDR

“Up to $500 reward for photos of any elected or appointed Crossville official doing wrong.  No seat belt, speeding, drunk, drugs, abuse of office, fraud, corruption, legally or morally, public or private, past or present.  If you catch them dirty, I will pay you cash.  You will remain anonymous.  I will publish all photos, documents, and exc.  Contact Sam at “The Daily Bull””

Then a phone number which we called several times today and only got voice mail each time.  The last line of the sheet reads “If there dirty lets run them out of town”.
