MORE INFORMATION ON HOW FOOD STAMP RECIPIENT’S CAN REPLACE LOST FOOD FROM STORM

CNF has received more information for people who get SNAP Benefits (Food Stamps) and how you can recover food that may have been lost due to the recent ice storm.  The following is from the Department of Human Services:

SNAP benefits may be issued to replace food destroyed or spoiled in a disaster/household misfortune. This includes, but is not limited to: Power outages (12 hours or more), fire, wind, flood or other misfortune. This would not include power turned off due to non-payment.

Current SNAP recipients may submit a request for replacement benefits through their local

DHS office, but must do so within 10 days of the loss.

Any other client that needs assistance that is not currently on SNAP can complete an application and we can determine if they are eligible for any SNAP benefits.

Cumberland County DHS number is: (931) 484-2573
