MID-TN SEARCH CALLED OFF FOR CAR THAT MAY HAVE DEAD CHILD IN TRUNK

Millersville (just north of Hendersonville)  police have developed what they’re calling “substantial information” on the search for a car that may have had a dead child inside the trunk.

Police say the BOLO for the car has been lifted at this time.

According to the Millersville Police Department, the officer pulled over the vehicle on Interstate 65 on Wednesday afternoon for a registration violation.

The officer said the driver presented a Saudi driver’s license and told him his child was dead in the trunk and that he wanted to bury him in accordance with his Muslim faith.

The officer then asked to see the child, but the driver refused and told him that was against his religion. The officer let the driver go and reported it to his superiors.

Millersville Police Chief David Hindman said the officer will not be suspended and he will be disciplined according to policy and procedure.

The incident will also lead to additional training and policy changes for the entire police department.

The department will be holding a news conference that is expected to begin around 1 p.m.
