Troopers say a Tennessee Department of Transportation salt truck with a plow hit and killed a man in Lawrence County.

A 41-year-old man was killed in the accident that happened on McKinney Road in Iron City around midnight Thursday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the man was walking along the road when he was struck. He lived two houses down from where the crash happened.  The driver did not realize the man had been hit and continued on.

It is not known why he was walking or where he was going when he was hit.

There was heavy snow in the area at the time of the incident, which could have played a factor with visibility.

The man’s name has not been released by officials.  (WTVF)
