SO HOW MANY WILL COME TO CUMBERLAND CO MONDAY FOR THE ECLIPSE?

The following story appeared today on FOX17 News page in Nashville.  Many folks have asked CNF to investigate how many people might show up in Cumberland County Monday for the eclipse.  We contacted EMA director Rick Williams last week after we were told there was word on the street that we might have 250,000 people show up.  Mr. Williams told us there was no way to accurately predict how many would travel to our county.  He did say all available personnel were being called in for Monday on standby.  There was a mention of possibly double the county population which is currently 60,000.  If that should be the case, we would grow to 120,000 or more on Monday.  Crossville is right in the sweet spot for totality of the eclipse and we understand virtually all hotel/motel rooms, cabins and campsites have been booked for several weeks. Plan on delays if driving anywhere Monday.

FOX17 NASHVILLE– Traffic is already a headache in central Oregon as thousands of people arrive before Monday’s total solar eclipse.

Traffic was backed up early Thursday on U.S. Highway 26 near of Prineville, the last town before the turnoff for an eclipse-themed festival that’s expected to attract 30,000 people in a remote area with narrow, one-lane roads. A handful of gas stations in Bend and Prineville also ran out of fuel Wednesday before getting restocked.

The scene echoed one on Wednesday night, when eclipse traffic first began to swell. Traffic backed up for 12 miles on the same stretch of road, doubling the drive time between the towns of Redmond and Prineville as an estimated 8,000 cars passed through.
