ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY BY MAN IN WHEELCHAIR, PLASTIC BADGE AND HANDCUFFS

According to media reports, a strange and a bit scary armed robbery attempt was reported at Lake Tansi last week.  Derek Hilley had gone to the restroom at Tansi Beach when he was cornered by a guy in a motorized wheelchair who was wearing a plastic sheriff’s badge, fake handcuffs on his belt and wielding a real pistol.  The man, who appeared drunk, tried to demand the victims wallet. That’s when Hilley nabbed the gun and took off running.  The would-be-sheriff-robber was identified as 50-year-old Kenney Spivey.  He was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, criminal impersonation and possession of a prohibited weapon.
