ROANE CO: MAN TRIES TO STEAL SHERIFF PATROL CRUISER FROM SHERIFF’S DEPT PARKING LOT

Media reports this morning that a man in Roane County was wandering around the parking area of Roane County Sheriff’s Department.  A deputy watched as the subject, 30-year-old John Reyes, walked up to a Deputy cruiser and tried to open the door. The deputy walked over and asked the man what he was doing.  Reyes reportedly told the officer he was there on the orders of ‘Judge Stevens’ to pick up the cruiser. Reyes then proceeded to yet another cruiser and got in the vehicle. That’s when the game was over. Reyes was taken into the jail and a check was made on his story. Turns out there was no authority given the man by the Judge to get ‘anything’ and Reyes didn’t work for the Judge.  Reyes was charged with attempted theft and burglary.
