LONGTIME LOCAL MINISTER, DON WRIGHT PASSES- SERVICES ANNOUNCED

img010-352x500Lifelong minister Don Wright  of Crossville passed away last week.  Don spent his life going about ‘his Father’s business’ in the States as well as abroad.  Graduating from Weatherford High School in 1960, Don was educated at Abilene Christian College in Abilene, TX.  Then he entered Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, TX.  While there Don was chosen to make his first of two Campaigns to Ireland.  In brief, over the next years Brother Wright would accept assignments in 4 nations, VIETNAM during the war as a missionary, IRELAND, ARCHANGEL, RUSSIA & CHINA establishing new congregations in each.  Perhaps the most productive was the last with 229 Christian conversions in DaQing and Shanghai, China during the years there.

Back home Don served as Pulpit Minister for local churches in TX, OK, MO, KY, LA, TN & OR & MT. Here in Cumberland County, Don was asked to preach for the Linary Church of Christ which grew from 70 to 240 his last Sunday. Bro. Wright was Development Officer for the Tennessee Children’s Home while helping found the West KY Children’s Home in Paducah, KY.

Retiring back in Crossville, Don preached for the Newton congregation and was a very active member at the Homesteads Church of Christ.  Services for Don Wright will be Sunday, February 8th at 1pm in the Chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home in Crossville.
