LONGTIME BUSINESSMAN, CIVIC LEADER BOYD WYATT SR. SERVICES ANNOUNCED

53cb1755d262d.imageServices for former Crossville City Councilman Boyd Wyatt Sr. have been announced.  Mr. Wyatt passed away Saturday at the age of 81.  Mr. Wyatt served on the Crossville City Council  from 1967 to 1968 and again from 1993 to 2012.  Mr. Wyatt’s first job was working for his father, Horace Wyatt, at Turner, Day, and Woolworth Handle Company in Crossville at age 15.  Through the years he worked for Hoover Motor and Potter Freight. He started his own Trucking Company in 1953.  In 1977 he formed Mountain Express with Partner Carl Johnson. In 1984 Averitt Express purchased Mountain Express. He worked for Averitt Express until his passing. He was a member of the Rotary Club for many years and served as a past President.  He loved serving the people of Crossville and Cumberland County. He was a pilot who often flew local officials to locations in search of more industry for Crossville.    A devoted family man, he has 3 children,  5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  Services for Mr. Wyatt will be held on Tuesday December 15th at 1 pm at Bilbrey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Crossville City Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10-1.  He leaves behind his wife Camilla Wyatt and children Boyd Jr.,  Eddie Wyatt and Deana Barlow. Bilbrey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. One of Mr. Wyatt’s favorite sayings was  “To Have a Friend you have to be a Friend”.
