LOCAL SPORTSCASTER AND SPORTS REPORTER RECOGNIZED BY CCHS

cchs from the streetThe faculty, staff, and student body of Cumberland County High School honored Mr. Randel Trevena the “Voice of the Jets” and Mr. Ed Greif, Crossville Chronicle sports reporter, prior to Friday night’s basketball game between CCHS and White County.

Randel, an announcer with 102.5 WOW County radio station, has dedicated over thirty years of his career to the broadcast of Cumberland County High School sports including football, basketball, and at one point, baseball. He is highly regarded by all CCHS fans as the “Voice of the Jets”.

Ed Greif has written and photographed sporting events for Cumberland County High School for almost thirty years. His professional life has truly been given to covering all athletic events at Cumberland County High School.

Mr. Hall, CCHS principal, addressed the crowd and spoke of the hundreds of ballgames that have been delivered to the public by on the air broadcast and the written sports page of the Chronicle by these two servants of our community. He stated, “Cumberland County High School is truly blessed to have these two professionals as supporters of our entire school program and especially our sporting events.”

Council Member Jesse Kerley representing City Mayor James Mayberry, and County Mayor Kenneth Carey each made a presentation lauding the careers of both Mr. Trevena and Mr. Greif.

Dr. Pat Teeples, Athletic Director of CCHS, presented both Mr. Trevena and Mr. Greif with a gift from the entire CCHS family as a token of appreciation for their many years of service.
