LIQUOR AND BEER DELIVERED RIGHT TO YOUR DOORSTEP STARTING IN JULY – LEGALLY
Starting July 1, third-party restaurant delivery services will not only drop off your meals at your doorstep, but can start including alcoholic beverages.
Governor Bill Haslam recently signed the bill into law that will let delivery services bring up to a gallon of alcohol per customer per delivery.
The third-party service will stop by a wine and spirits store to pick up the customer’s beverage of choice.
Liquor stores will make the sales since they are the only ones licensed to sell alcohol for off-premises consumption.
Restaurant delivery service companies and their delivery drivers will have to obtain a state license to participate.
Delivery drivers will have to be licensed to deliver the alcohol, go through a background check, be 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
They will also ultimately be responsible for ensuring that the sale is not to a minor.
