Cumberland County has lost one of its most publicly spirited residents. 97-year-old Virgie Lewis had been socially active in Cumberland County for many decades. Ms Lewis was one of the original Cumberland County Fair Board members dating back to 1946 and remained active in the Fair throughout her lifetime.   In 1966 she was a founding member of the area United Fund and in 1975 she and her late husband Elmo were co-founders of The ARC.  In addition to serving the community well during her life – she was a genuinely good woman and was beloved by many. Services for Ms. Lewis will be Wednesday at 3 PM at the Main St. Church of Christ, with visitation from 2-3 PM prior to the service. Bilbrey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
