KERLEY CALLS FOR SOUZA’S REMOVAL, SOUZA ACCUSED OF TRYING TO SUE CITY (AUDIO)

The drama continues at Crossville City Hall.  The City Council held a work session Thursday when the heat was turned up after Councilperson Jesse Kerley announced he was going to demand an apology from Councilperson Pete Souza for inappropriate actions and words toward citizens and council members.  Souza fired back that the only reason Kerley was making waves was because he was friends with Chris Bennett the operator of the Crossville Airport – recently the subject of allegations by Souza of mismanagement.  Kerley said if Souza didn’t apologize he was going to make a motion to censor (perhaps meaning censure) Souza a the next regular meeting. Souza said there would be no apology.  Kerley asked the City attorney to research a way to remove Souza from the Council entirely for being unruly on a  continuous basis.  Then there’s the matter brought up by Councilperson Pam Harris of Souza allegedly meeting with a group of people actually at City Hall recently to discuss suing the City of Crossville.   Souza said that there was a meeting there but it was nothing to do with suing the City.
