JOURNAL STUDY: TATTOOS COULD HELP KEEP YOU HEALTHY

People who have a lot of tattoos might actually be healthier than someone with none.

“The Huffington Post” shared a new article from “The American Journal of Human Biology” Wednesday. In the article, researchers suggest tattoo needles may actually stimulate the immune system, in a way similar to getting a vaccine.

That means that people with multiple tattoos might be less likely to get infections or sicknesses.

The owner of Knoxville-based Alter Ego Tattoo shared his take on the study.

“I’d say probably yeah they won’t, because when you’re getting tattooed anything inside your body that doesn’t belong there, your immune system tries to fight off so over time it gets stronger and stronger,” said Lonnie Scoggins.

Nothing is definite on the study yet, so researchers stress there’s no need to rush out and get a tattoo to fight colds and flu. In fact, the first one can make a person even more susceptible to getting sick.
