ScreenHunter_112 Mar. 02 20.52A Westmoreland Tennessee stepfather is facing charges after he became angry and attacked a school bus following an argument with his wife about his 12-year-old stepdaughter wearing makeup to school.    According to Major Don Linzy with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Department, Bobby Absher reportedly assaulted his wife with a baseball bat before using it to crack the school bus windshield.

Police said the school bus driver attempted to stop the attack and was hit by broken glass in the process.

The bus driver is expected to okay. Absher’s wife sustained injuries during the attack.

Police said there were no other children on board the bus at the time of the incident.

Jeremy Johnson, PIO Sumner County Schools, said the bus driver called authorities immediately after the attack.

“A very scary incident and we’re just very fortunate it happened to be the first stop on the route and not a school bus full of kids,” Johnson said.

He added, “The bus driver is understandably shaken up. I think we can take heart in the fact he did the right thing here. He did what we want him to do. He got the kids to safety; he got the bus to safety.”

There was a delay picking up other children because the damaged bus had to be swapped out.

Absher is being held in the Sumner County jail on a $100,000 bond. He faces assault and domestic violence charges.

Authorities said he does not have a criminal record in Tennessee.
