The assault of a Cumberland County man in the eastern section of the county that resulted in serious head injury is being investigated by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s office.
According to an incident report written by Deputy Levi Gilliam, on July 12 Evan Williams, 19, Buck Ct., said he was walking on a trail in a wooded area near the Dogwood Road Bridge when he encountered “three other boys” in the area. An argument ensued and the last thing that Williams can recall is being attacked by the trio. Williams further stated he was bleeding but was able to make his way out of the woods but could not receive a signal to his cell phone to call 911. He then drove himself to a nearby gas station and called his aunt who picked him up and drove him to the hospital.
Deputies first received notification when a nurse at Cookville Regional Medical Center called to report that a patient identified as Evan Williams had arrived at the hospital suffering from multiple cuts and abrasions, a laceration under his left arm and a “serious head injury.”
The incident is being investigated by investigator Bo Kollros of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s office.
